Ingredients
- tomato3 no.
- tamarind1 tsp
- cooked toor dal1/4 cup
- rasam powder2 tsp
- garlic4 no.
- jeera1 tsp
- black pepper1 tsp
- mustard seeds1/2 tsp
- dry red chilli1 no.
- curry leaves1 sprig
- hing1 pinch
- haldi1/4 tsp
- ghee1 tbsp
- coriander (optional)2 tbsp
- salt1 tsp
Method
- 1Mash the tomatoes and mix with tamarind water, rasam powder, haldi, crushed garlic, salt and 2 cups of water. · 5m
- 2Bring the mixture to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes until the raw smell goes. · 6m
- 3Add the mashed dal with a little more water and heat until frothy, but do not let it boil hard. · 4m
- 4Temper mustard seeds, jeera, crushed pepper, dry red chilli, hing and curry leaves in ghee. · 3m
- 5Pour the tempering into the rasam and turn off the flame. · 1m
- 6Garnish with coriander and serve hot with steamed rice. · 1m
