Terms of Use

The rules of the kitchen. They are short, and three of them matter more than the rest: the app gives suggestions and not advice, the cook is the one responsible for what goes on the plate, and there is no tolerance for objectionable content.

The three that matter

1. Agreeing to these terms

These terms are the agreement between you and WifeFood, covering the WifeFood mobile app and wifefood.com. By creating an account or using WifeFood, you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use WifeFood.

They work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains what we collect and why.

2. Your account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to have a WifeFood account. If you are under 18, use it with a parent or guardian's permission.
  • Give accurate details when you sign up, and keep your password to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
  • Only add someone to your household, or invite a partner, if you have the right to share that information about them. If you add a child, you must be that child's parent or guardian.
  • Tell us at support@wifefood.com if you think someone else is using your account.

3. What WifeFood is

WifeFood answers "what do I cook today?". It looks at what you told it about your family and what you have cooked recently, and uses AI to suggest dishes, write recipes, read photos of your fridge or your finished dish, and transcribe voice notes.

AI output is generated, not verified. Cooking times, quantities, nutrition figures, ingredient substitutions, health tags on juices and age guidance on baby food are produced by a model. They are usually good and they are sometimes wrong. Treat them the way you would treat a suggestion from a friend who cooks a lot: a starting point you check with your own eyes.

We may add, change or retire features. Suggestions differ from cook to cook and from day to day by design — that is what makes them yours.

4. Not medical or dietary advice

WifeFood does not give medical, nutritional, dietary or paediatric advice. Nothing in the app comes from a doctor, a registered dietitian or a paediatrician, and nothing in it should be used to diagnose, treat, prevent or manage any medical condition.

Recipes, calorie or nutrition estimates, portion sizes, "healthy", "immunity" or "diabetic-friendly" tags, fitness framing, pregnancy-adjacent content and baby-food guidance are all general information generated by an AI model.

Talk to a qualified professional before relying on anything here if you or anyone you cook for is pregnant or breastfeeding, is an infant or a young child, is diabetic, has a heart, kidney or liver condition, has a food allergy or intolerance, has an eating disorder, is on a medically-prescribed diet, or is taking medication that interacts with food.

Baby-food suggestions are general guidance for healthy, full-term babies only. Introduce new foods one at a time, watch for reactions, never leave a baby alone while eating, and follow your paediatrician — especially where allergies, prematurity or any health condition are involved. Your paediatrician always outranks the app.

5. Food safety and allergies are yours

You are the cook. You are responsible for what you make and what you serve. WifeFood cannot see your kitchen, cannot smell your ingredients and cannot taste the food.

  • Check every ingredient against every allergy in your household before you cook.An AI can omit an allergen, miss a hidden one (nuts in a paste, gluten in an asafoetida blend, dairy in a ghee tempering), or suggest a substitution that reintroduces one. The "never suggest" list helps, but it is not a guarantee and must never be relied on as an allergy safety net.
  • Cooking times and temperatures are estimates. Cook meat, poultry, fish, eggs and pulses through, to the safe temperature for that food. A doneness check from a photo is an opinion about a picture, not a thermometer.
  • Judge your own ingredients. Freshness, storage, hygiene, cross-contamination and how long something has been in the fridge are yours to assess.
  • Stop if something looks wrong. If a suggestion seems unsafe, unusual for the dish, or wrong for someone at your table, do not cook it — and please report it to support@wifefood.com so we can look at it.

To the fullest extent the law allows, WifeFood is not liable for illness, allergic reaction, injury or loss arising from food you chose to cook or eat.

6. Content you create

Your recipes, dish names, cook-log notes, household notes, pantry entries, ratings, reasons for passing on a dish, photos and voice notes are yours. You keep ownership of all of it.

You give WifeFood permission to store, display and process that content for one purpose: running the service for you. In practice that means saving it to your account, showing it back to you and to anyone you have deliberately shared your kitchen with, and sending the relevant parts to OpenAI so a suggestion or a recipe can be generated. We do not use it for advertising and we do not sell it.

If you publish a recipe into the shared WifeFood recipe library, other cooks can see and cook it, and it may keep being shown after you close your account (unlinked from you — see the Privacy Policy). Only publish a recipe if you have the right to: your own cooking, or a family recipe you are free to share — not text copied wholesale from a cookbook, a blog or another app.

7. No tolerance for objectionable content

WifeFood has zero tolerance for objectionable content and for abusive users. Content that breaks the rules below is removed, and the account that posted it can be suspended or deleted without notice.

You may not create, upload, publish, send or share:

  • sexual content, nudity or sexually suggestive material of any kind;
  • anything that sexualises, endangers or exploits a child — this is reported to the authorities as well as removed;
  • violence, gore, cruelty to animals, or content glorifying self-harm;
  • hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory or discriminatory content aimed at anyone or at any group — including on the basis of religion, caste, region, gender, sexuality, disability or nationality;
  • instructions that are illegal or dangerous, including recipes designed to harm, sicken or intoxicate someone without their knowledge, deliberately unsafe preparation, or anything involving controlled substances;
  • content that is knowingly unsafe as food — unsafe preservation, unsafe raw preparations, or dangerous claims about feeding infants;
  • spam, scams, advertising, chain messages, malware or links designed to deceive;
  • impersonation of another person, brand or of WifeFood itself;
  • another person's private information — their photos, phone number, address or anything else — shared without their consent;
  • content you do not have the right to post, including copyrighted recipes, text or photographs belonging to someone else.

You also may not misuse the service itself: no attempting to break into other accounts, no scraping, no automated abuse, no probing the servers, and no reverse engineering the app.

We screen before publishing. Every recipe submitted for the shared library is automatically screened for safety and spam before it can be published, and every photo you upload is screened before anything else is done with it — a flagged image is refused on the spot and never reaches the AI that would have read it.

Two honest caveats about that screening, because it is easy to read more into it than it does. The screening is itself an AI service: your photo is sent to OpenAI's moderation model in order to be checked, so every uploaded image reaches OpenAI even when it is then refused. And if that check cannot run at all — an outage on their side — the upload is allowed through unscreened rather than the camera features going dark for everyone; we log every such case. Screening catches a lot, it is not perfect, and it is no substitute for reporting.

8. Reporting content or a person

If you see something in WifeFood that breaks these rules, tell us. Reporting is the fastest route to getting it removed.

  • In the app — open the recipe and use Report. It files straight into our moderation queue. You pick the reason — offensive or inappropriate, unsafe to cook or eat, spam, copied from someone else, harassment, or something else in your own words — and you can add whatever you want us to know.
  • By email — write to support@wifefood.comwith the subject "Report", for a recipe or for anything else: a cook-log entry and its photo or note, a message a linked partner sent you, something the AI assistant said, or the person behind any of it. Tell us what you saw, where you saw it (the dish or screen name), and roughly when. A screenshot helps. It reaches the same moderation queue and the same 24-hour promise.

We aim to review every report within 24 hours. Anything that breaks these rules is removed, and we act on the account that posted it — a warning, suspension, or deletion, depending on what it was. Content that endangers a child is removed immediately and reported to the appropriate authorities. We will tell you what we did with your report if you ask.

You can also block a partner from your kitchen yourself: removing a partner in the app ends their access immediately and rotates your invite code so they cannot rejoin with it.

9. Removal, suspension and termination

We may remove any content, and suspend or permanently terminate any account, that breaks these terms — without notice where the content is serious, and, if we are ever charging for Premium, without a refund. Repeated or severe breaches mean permanent removal from WifeFood.

If you think we got it wrong, email support@wifefood.com and a person will look at it again.

10. Links you share

The read-only companion link that shows your family the week's menu and grocery list is public by design — it is built to be pasted into a family group chat, and anyone holding it can open it. Do not put anything in your plan or list that you would not put in that chat. You can switch the link off at any time.

11. Free, and what Premium means

WifeFood costs nothing. The daily answer is free and stays free, and every Premium extra — weekly auto meal-plans, unlimited AI recipes, per-member family profiles and changing your life mode after the first free pick — is switched on for everyone right now, at no charge.

So there is nothing to buy and nothing to cancel. WifeFood has no in-app purchase, no recurring charge and no checkout— it never asks for a card and never takes a payment. Unlocking Premium is one tap that switches the extras on for your account; if you are reading this expecting to find a price, there isn't one.

We are not promising that free forever for everything. Premium exists as a tier because we may charge for those extras in a later version — the daily answer is the part that stays free whatever happens. If that day comes we will tell you in the app first, and the price and the terms will be in front of you before you agree to anything. Anything bought through the App Store would then be handled by Apple, under Apple's own terms for payment, renewal and refunds. Until then, nothing here is asking you to pay.

12. Availability and no warranty

We work hard to keep WifeFood up, but it is provided "as is". We do not promise it will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or that every suggestion will suit you. Features can change and third-party services we rely on can have outages.

13. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, WifeFood is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for loss arising from your use of AI-generated suggestions, recipes or nutrition information — including illness, allergic reaction or injury from food you cooked or ate. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

14. Ending this agreement

You can stop using WifeFood at any time, and you can end the account yourself from inside the app: Profile → Delete my account, confirmed with your password and effective immediately. See Deleting your account for exactly what that removes and the few things that outlive it. If you are locked out and cannot reach that screen, support@wifefood.com will do it for you.

We can end this agreement if you break these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, liability, and the food-safety and no-advice sections — continue to apply after it ends.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and disputes will be handled by the courts of India, without affecting any consumer rights you have where you live that cannot be signed away.

16. Changes to these terms

We will update this page when the rules change, and move the "last updated" date at the top. For a significant change we will tell you in the app or by email. Continuing to use WifeFood after a change means you accept the updated terms.

17. Contact
