Using WifeFood
How does WifeFood decide what to suggest?
It starts with what you told it in Profile — your diet, spice level, cuisines you love, ingredients you never want to see, your family size and your life mode. Then it removes anything you have cooked recently (your "don't repeat for N days" setting), anything you have passed on before, and anything that clashes with a household member's note. What is left is ranked to fit the kind of day you have, and the AI writes the suggestions.
If you have added things to My Kitchen, dishes you can cook right nowcome first. If you type or say what you feel like — "something quick with paneer, no onions" — that takes priority over everything else.
Why did I get the same dish again? Or a dish I never cook?
WifeFood only avoids a dish if it knows you cooked it. Tap "I cooked this"— that one tap is what feeds the memory. You can also set a longer rest period per dish, or raise the global "don't repeat for N days" number in Profile.
For a dish that does not suit you at all, use "Don't suggest this" and give a reason. The reason matters: it teaches the app to avoid similar dishes too, not just that one.
How do I change my life mode?
Open Profile → Your life mode and tap the one that fits — working woman, family kitchen, fitness, student, elder, bachelor or new parent. It saves as soon as you tap and reshapes Today, your shelves and your plan straight away.
Your first pick is free, and changing it afterwards counts as a Premium feature because life mode rewrites most of what the app shows you. In practice that costs nothing today: Premium is switched on for everyone right now, with no card and nothing to pay. If you are still stuck on the wrong one, email support@wifefood.com and we will switch it for you.
How do I change my diet, spice level or family size?
All of it lives in Profile: diet, veg-only days, cuisines, family size, spice level, the repeat gap, your "never suggest" list and your family members. Change it whenever life changes — guests coming, someone away, a new diet — and the next suggestion follows.
How do I turn the daily reminder off?
In Profile, set the daily reminder to Offand none is ever sent again. You can also switch off notifications for WifeFood in your phone's own Settings. Turning reminders off does not affect anything else in the app.
Can my family see the menu without an account?
Yes — Profile → Share the menu with familycreates a read-only link showing this week's menu and the grocery list. Paste it into your family group. Remember it is public by design: anyone holding the link can open it. Switch it off any time and the old link stops working immediately.
Your account and your data
How do I download my data?
Tap Download my data in Profile and you get a plain, readable report: your account details, preferences, your dishes, your whole cook log, your kitchen and every dish you passed on. It is free for everyone.
You can also email support@wifefood.com from the address on your account and we will send you the same report free.
How do I delete my account?
In the app: Profile → Delete my account. Type your account password to confirm and it is deleted straight away — no waiting period, no email to click, no reason to give. If you are locked out and cannot reach that screen, email support@wifefood.com from the address you signed up with and we will do it for you within 7 days.
Deleting removes your profile and password, your preferences and life mode, every household member, your entire cook log with its notes and ratings, your saved dishes, your pantry, shopping list and meal plan, your push tokens and every sharing link. It cannot be undone — the Privacy Policy sets out exactly what goes and the few things that outlive the account.
One thing to do first, if it applies to you: recipes you published into the shared library stay there, unlinked from you. If you want those taken down too, email support@wifefood.com before you delete — afterwards nothing connects them to you and we cannot tell which were yours.
I forgot my password.
If you are still signed in on any device, change it from Profile → Change password. If you are locked out entirely, email support@wifefood.com from your registered address and we will reset it for you. Changing your password signs out every other device, which is exactly what you want if you think someone else got in.
What happens to my photos and voice notes?
They are not stored. A photo of your fridge or your finished dish is held only for the length of that one request, read by the AI, and dropped — what we keep is the text that comes back, like the dish name. Voice notes are transcribed and the audio is discarded. Details are in the Privacy Policy.
Reporting and safety
How do I report a recipe, a photo or a message?
For a recipe, open it in the app and use Report — it goes straight into our moderation queue, and you pick the reason and add anything you want us to know. For anything else — a cook-log entry with its photo or note, a message from a linked partner, something the assistant said, or the person behind it — email support@wifefood.comwith the subject "Report", telling us what you saw, where, and roughly when. A screenshot helps a lot. Both land in the same queue.
We aim to review every report within 24 hours. Anything breaking our content rules is removed and the account behind it is suspended or deleted. There is no tolerance for objectionable content on WifeFood.
A suggestion looked unsafe, or got an allergy wrong.
Do not cook it, and please tell us at support@wifefood.com with the dish name — we look at every one of these.
Suggestions are AI-generated general information, not advice from a doctor or dietitian. Always check ingredients against your household's allergies yourselfbefore you cook. The "never suggest" list helps but is not an allergy safety net.
Is the baby-food section safe for my baby?
It is general guidance for healthy, full-term babies, not medical advice. Under one year the app refuses honey, added salt and added sugar, and every baby-food screen carries the full warning. Introduce new foods one at a time, watch for reactions for a couple of days, never leave a baby alone while eating, and follow your paediatrician — especially with allergies, prematurity or any health condition. Your paediatrician always outranks the app.
How do I remove a partner from my kitchen?
Profile → Your partner → remove. Their access ends immediately and your invite code is rotated, so they cannot rejoin using the old one.
Something is broken
The app is stuck, slow, or showing an error.
First try the quick things: pull to refresh, close and reopen the app, check your connection, and make sure you are on the latest version from the App Store.
If it is still wrong, email support@wifefood.com and include what you were doing, what you expected, what happened instead, your phone model and iOS version, the app version, and a screenshot. That is usually enough for us to find it on the first try.
How fast will you reply?
A person reads every email. We reply within 2 working days for ordinary questions, and within 24 hours for reports of objectionable content or anything involving safety.
Still stuck?
Tell us what you were doing and what happened instead. Include your phone model and app version if something broke, and a screenshot if you have one.
